FAMBED is a Danish family-run business. The idea was born from our own needs in 2020 and began taking shape in earnest in 2022, driven by our dream of finding a flexible, modern and, above all, affordable family bed made from honest materials, without compromising on comfort, safety or aesthetics.
After several years of development and refinement, version 1 of the FamBed family bed had been thoroughly tried and tested in everyday family life. By late 2025, it was ready for market, after the FamBed DIY family bed kit had proven the demand for a complete, purpose-built family bed.
Today, we are proud that several thousand families with young children across more than 50 countries are enjoying a greater sense of security and more restful sleep in our family beds.
FamBed was founded by serial entrepreneurs Kasper and Oliver, who have several well-known and much-loved ventures to their names. Our family beds were developed with the support and honest feedback of Josephine and Laura, who provide invaluable support amid the ever-changing realities of entrepreneurial family life. Both families co-sleep, albeit in different ways.

Kasper and Josephine's eldest son and Valde's big brother. He quickly worked out how to climb out of his cot and into bed with Mum and Dad. Oskar still co-sleeps, unless he decides he would rather sleep in his cool bedroom.
Valde, Oskar's little brother, has grown up co-sleeping from the very beginning, which has made him feel incredibly secure in his sleeping environment. He can fall asleep just about anywhere, but most often sleeps between Mum and Dad.
Serial entrepreneur, dad to Aksel, stepdad to Agnes and Laura's partner. One of our two founders and an active co-sleeper with the whole family, having learnt that you cannot reason with a 3-year-old at 3 am.
Mum to Agnes and Aksel, and Oliver's partner. She really missed having that extra space in bed while Agnes was growing up. She loves long mornings and Friday-night films in bed with the whole family.
Aksel’s older sister, Laura’s daughter and Oliver’s stepdaughter. She does not really co-sleep any more, but with a 7/7 custody arrangement she can still miss her mum, and find her way into the family bed at night.
Agnes’ younger brother and the son of Oliver and Laura. He has gone to bed in his own cool room since he was 2, but still comes in to Mum and Dad pretty much every night. Whether he wants to sleep next to Mum or Dad varies, though.

At FamBed, we don't believe the night is simply something to get through. We believe it shapes everyday life for the whole family. Our philosophy is rooted in something fundamentally human: children need to feel secure, even while they sleep. Most children wake during the night, and many become unsettled when they feel separated from their parents. When reassurance is close by, they often settle again more quickly. That means fewer occasions when they wake fully, fewer lengthy spells resettling them at the bedside and less overnight high alert for the adults.
We believe that children who feel secure don't need to spend their energy seeking reassurance. Instead, they can use that energy to learn, grow, play and be present throughout the day. For us, co-sleeping is about more than sleep. It is about wellbeing: less broken sleep, gentler mornings and more energy for family life. When everyone sleeps better, there is often more patience, greater connection and fewer short tempers when the pressure is on.
FamBed was created to make this closeness possible in everyday life, without compromising on comfort, space or aesthetics. We design family beds with room for both the security children need and the proper sleep adults need. For us, this isn't about ideals. It is about everyday family life: a bed that supports a child's need to feel secure at night can help the whole family thrive during the day. And in the right circumstances, it is simply wonderfully cosy!

Behind FamBed are Oliver and Kasper, together with their families. Among their previous ventures, Oliver and Kasper created the commercial success and nationwide phenomenon Citatplakat, which began designing and producing posters featuring some of popular culture's funniest catchphrases and quotes in 2015. In 2020, they joined forces with their biggest competitor, Dialægt, in front of the cameras on the Danish version of the TV show Løvens Hule. The business went on to become one of the Nordic region's leading poster brands, selling more than 1,000,000 posters in Denmark alone.
When FamBed co-founder Kasper had his first son, Oskar, he quickly found that the bed felt cramped during breastfeeding. Sharing the same sleep surface would also make Josephine's nights easier, as she would no longer need to lift Oskar in and out of the bedside cot. So, late one sleepless night, squeezed onto the edge of the bed, Kasper searched for an extra-wide bed. To his surprise, the bed he had imagined simply did not exist. But Kasper is an entrepreneur through and through, and the ideas began to take shape. As he thought at the time: "Surely we can't be the only ones with this problem."
At that point, FamBed was still only a business idea and could not yet be brought to life, as the rapidly growing Citatplakat venture demanded their full attention. Their first solution was therefore homemade: an extra bed placed alongside their own, with a full-width mattress topper and sheets, plus the first versions of our bed bridge, bed connector strap and bed skirt.
Citatplakat was sold in August 2022, giving entrepreneurs Kasper and Oliver the time and opportunity to pursue new ventures. They quickly decided that their passion project, FamBed, would be one of them.
In September 2025, we began searching for a manufacturing partner in the US after demand for our family beds soared when we went viral on social media. The setup was completed in the first half of 2026, and we can now proudly say that we sell our family beds across both Europe and America.
